The Korean American Voters’ Council (KAVC), would like to cordially invite you to our 14th Anniversary Benefit Banquet on Friday, 6:30 PM, April 30, 2010, at Dae-Dong Manor / Korea Village located on 150-24 Northern Boulevard in Flushing, Queens.
As you may already know, the KAVC is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1996, by a small group of volunteers, in Flushing, New York. The KAVC’s mission is to educate the Korean American community about the importance of civic participation and to increase voter participation, which will benefit and improve the social status of our community.
Throughout the years, the KAVC has made much progress. At the time of the KAVC’s establishment in 1996, only 8 percent of the registered Korean American voters voted in that year’s election(s). Since its inception, the KAVC has registered and educated over 24,000 voters. In 2008, 64 percent of Korean American registered voters participated in elections, which signifies an increase of 56 percent! Please review the enclosed insert, describing our activities in greater detail.
